Together with the Trade Union of Hwaseung Rach Gia Company Limited to visit the family of a female worker renting a room in Thanh Loc Industrial Park (An Giang), we heard the child's cry from afar.
Ms. Thi My Vien (born in 1998) is a worker currently on maternity leave. Thinking that joy and happiness was when welcoming a second daughter, one day after going to the doctor, they discovered her heart disease.
Ms. Vien said that she had taken her baby to many places in the province for examination and transferred him to Children's Hospital 1 in Ho Chi Minh City. Doctors said that the baby had to be operated on when he reached 6kg, otherwise he would have heart failure with many other dangerous complications if left for a long time. Currently, the child is over 4kg, but the family does not have money to take care of him.
"The cost of the surgery is about 70 million VND, not to mention other costs when going to the surgery to take care of the child, but with the unstable salary of workers and their husbands working for hire, we cannot afford it," said Ms. Vien.
"Seeing my child grinning and uncomfortable, I cried and my heart ached. The child is too young to suffer from a terrible disease, becoming a father and mother without the ability to treat him, loving him but not knowing what to do. The couple also tried to find ways and tried to go to work, but the amount of money needed for surgery exceeded both of their ability. I was so worried about losing milk, seeing my child made me cry," Ms. Vien confided.
Ms. Vien's eldest son in grade 3 was sent to her parents for care and send him to school. The couple sends home tuition, and has outside support for food and living expenses. However, the grandparents and great-grandparents all live far away and cannot help, so the couple has to overcome adversity together.
In an urgent situation where she cannot turn around for money, her salary is just enough to cover her living expenses, Ms. Vien really needs the support of kind-hearted people to have money to treat her child.
Her husband, Mr. Tran Huu Nhan, currently works for hire, and his income is unstable. He plans to find a boat to go to sea to apply for a deposit first and then gradually repay the debt to the owner, at all costs to earn money to treat his child. But if he works far away, there will be no one to help him at home because Ms. Vien's health after giving birth is also recovering.
Ms. Vien shared: "My wife and I are healthy enough to earn money to take care of our lives, but unfortunately our daughter has a heart disease and the cost is too high. The couple did not know how to manage to get money because the doctor said that if left for a long time, the possibility of successful treatment would decrease.
Seeing Ms. Vien's difficult situation, the company's Trade Union called for donations, and the company also created all conditions for Ms. Vien to work and rest appropriately.
Ms. Ton Nu My Hanh - Chairman of the Trade Union of Hwaseung Rach Gia Company Limited shared: "During her pregnancy, Vien also had many thai atrophies, the company supported her with rest, creating favorable and easy working conditions. We also provide emergency support to union members in difficult circumstances, calling for the cooperation of the company to help. However, that is only a small part that cannot be helped to the whole of Vien's family. We really hope that everyone will share and help Vien to treat the child soon.
Every day, the sound of children's cries seems to tear the hearts of young mothers. Seeing the innocent eyes and lovely face of Ms. Vien's child, she blamed herself for not being able to take better care of her child. Hopefully, the love and sharing of the community and the golden hearts near and far will help children have the opportunity to heal and have a better and brighter future.
