Russian commentator speaks up
The famous Russian philosopher and political commentator Alexander dugin reacted to the car bombing on August 20 outside Moscow that killed his 30-year-old daughter - Darya dugina.
dugin blamed Ukraine for the incident on August 22 and said he wanted a military victory rather than revenge.
My daughter Darya was brutally murdered in front of me on August 20, he said. The Russian commentator said that Darya is a beautiful cardinal girl, a patriot, a military reporter, a television expert and a philosopher. Darya's speeches and reports are always profound, well-founded and independent. My daughter never calls for violence or war. My daughter is a rising star at the beginning of her journey" - Mr. dugin wrote.
According to the Russian scholar, the murder of his daughter was aimed at defeating the Russian will to target the best and most vulnerable people, but the attackers would not succeed. He added that the desire for revenge or simple revenge would be "too small and not the style of the Russian people". Instead, we need to win. So, let's win!" - Mr. dugin wrote.
The bombing occurred while Darya dugina attended a festival in Moscow's suburbs. Darya dugina was driving his father's Toyota SUV when it exploded, causing Russian authorities to suspect the bomb was targeting dugin. However, a Russian security source told TASS on August 22 that the main assassination target was dugina and that the bomb had been detonated remotely when the suspect confirmed she was driving.
Russia releases photos of suspect
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has released a video of Natalya Vovk, 43, a Ukrainian national, identified as the prime suspect in the car bombing that killed journalist Darya dugina in Moscow.
On August 22, the Russian security agency released a video showing Vovk entering the country last month (July 23) using a license plate of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic. The attacker was accompanied by his teenage daughter, surnamed Shaban.
In Moscow, Vovk has also registered to rent an apartment in the same building with dugina. The suspect also changed the mini Cooper's license plate to a Kazakhstan license plate.
On August 21, the suspect in the car bombing crash left Russia in a hurry to go to Estonia in a Ukrainian-plate car. Images of different license plates have been included in the suspect announcement video.
Officials say Vovk may have used his daughter as a cover to move across Russia more easily.
RT said that Vovk appeared in a list of members of the Ukrainian National Guard posted on the Russian Internet in April. At that time, this woman's surname was recorded as Shaban.
Ukraine, for its part, denied any official involvement in the bombing.
UN calls for investigation
The United Nations is calling for an " Investigation to determine the truth" behind the death of Russian journalist Darya dugina, Stephane Dujarric, a spokesperson for General Secretary Antonio Guterres told reporters on August 22.
The UN Security Council will be informed about the car bombing at an upcoming meeting, the permanent representative of Russia to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia said.
Ambassador Nebenzia told TASS: "We have requested an urgent meeting tomorrow (August 3) on the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant," and at the meeting he will mention the car bombing in Moscow over the weekend.
