Students wait impatiently
Initial information about the 2025 admissions, some universities have adjusted their admission methods to tighten input quality. Some schools have reduced admission quotas based on high school transcripts, high school graduation exam scores, some schools have announced new admission combinations... This makes many 12th graders wait anxiously.
Sharing about this issue, Nguyen Linh Chi - a 12th grade student at Ha Dong High School (Hanoi) said that although she had determined the admission combinations in advance, the schools she wanted to apply to had not yet announced the official admission plan.
“According to my research, many schools have begun to announce their enrollment plans. What worries me is that top schools tend to eliminate or reduce the method of considering transcripts or high school graduation exam scores. I wonder how the school I want to apply to will change its enrollment plan this year,” Linh Chi said worriedly.
Nguyen Hai Dang, a 12th grade student at Dan Phuong High School (Hanoi), constantly visits the website of his favorite university to update the latest admissions information.
“The school’s enrollment plan will be the basis for me to develop a study strategy and set my university admission wishes. Therefore, I hope that the schools will quickly announce their enrollment plans before the end of the first semester,” the male student said.
Admission plan should be announced soon.
The 2024-2025 school year is the first year that students studying under the 2018 General Education Program will take the graduation exam. In addition to the two compulsory subjects of Literature and Mathematics, students can choose two subjects from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12.
With this exam plan, some elective subjects will become graduation exam subjects, so the admission combination of universities will have many changes.
Sharing about this issue, Ms. Tran Thi Tho - teacher at Hoang Van Thu High School (Hanoi) agreed that - schools should announce the enrollment plan as soon as possible so that students and teachers can prepare well.
“Announcing the admission plan early will give students the initiative. From the plan, candidates will understand the school’s orientation and the admission rate, thereby building a clear study plan and goals,” Ms. Tran Thi Tho shared.
Giving advice to candidates, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thanh Nam - Vice Principal of the University of Education (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) - said that during the waiting period, candidates should actively study, practice, and improve their knowledge and skills.
“Candidates should regularly update information on the websites of all universities they are aiming for. In the meantime, to reduce anxiety, candidates should focus on the goals and subjects they want to invest in and achieve the best results. Participate in other extracurricular activities to hone the skills of 21st century citizens. That will help you confidently take the entrance exam to any dream school” - Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam advised.
