Accordingly, on the afternoon of October 30, in Decision No. 3169/QD-BVHTTDL, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) decided to transfer and appoint Mr. Dang Tran Cuong - Director of the Vietnam Sports and Tourism Cinema Center to hold the position of Director of the Department of Cinema.
In addition, also related to the personnel of the Department of Cinema, in Decision No. 3205/QD-BVHTTDL, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to transfer and appoint Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Cinema to hold the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Training.
Prior to the appointment decisions, Mr. Vi Kien Thanh held the position of Director of the Department of Cinema since 2020. Mr. Vi Kien Thanh was the Director of the Department of Fine Arts, originally a photographer. Over the years, Mr. Vi Kien Thanh in the field of fine arts has always received questions from artists working in cinema about what he will contribute to the development of cinema.
Most recently, in the third quarter meeting of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Vi Kien Thanh expressed his opinion on the need to change laws and mechanisms, creating conditions for state films to be released and widely promoted, instead of only being shown in state theaters and then stored.
Cinema is currently at the top of the 12 key industries of the cultural industrialization strategy until 2030 with a vision to 2045. Cinema is expected to have breakthroughs in the coming year 2025, with many high-quality, high-revenue projects. At the same time, state-owned films will have new changes.
The new Director of the Department of Cinema - Mr. Dang Tran Cuong, born in 1982, worked at the University of Theatre and Cinema before taking on the position of Director of the Center for Sports and Tourism Cinema under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
