The Tay Son peasant uprising movement in the second half of the 18th century was associated with the careers of the three Tay Son brothers: Nguyen Nhac, Nguyen Hue and Nguyen Lu.
A typical example is Emperor Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue , a wise and brave leader who turned the Tay Son movement from a peasant uprising into a national liberation movement.
From a talented general who fought and won every battle, Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue became a national hero, a military genius, overthrowing feudal forces; erasing the Gianh River border that had divided the country for over 200 years; wiping out 50,000 Siamese troops with the resounding victory of Rach Gam - Xoai Mut.
The peak was the historic Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da victory in the year of Ky Dau 1789, defeating 290,000 invading Manchu troops, firmly protecting national independence.
Emperor Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue was not only a military genius but also an outstanding politician with many policies of recruiting talented people, treating them well, winning people's hearts, and establishing friendly relations with neighboring countries in the process of building the country.
The hero "in cloth and red flag" who fought in the South and pacified the North passed away on July 29, 1792, leaving behind many unfinished ambitions and dreams. Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue's life only had 39 springs, but he devoted all his soul, intelligence, talent, and determination to the struggle for national independence.
With his shining justice, talent and noble virtue, Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue has decorated the history of the nation with a brilliant golden page. The Tay Son peasant movement under the leadership of the military genius Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue is the heroic song of our nation.
On the occasion of the 232nd anniversary of the death of Emperor Quang Trung (1792 - 2024), in a solemn atmosphere in front of the Emperor Quang Trung Monument, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Dinh province solemnly held a flower offering ceremony at the Monument and an incense offering ceremony, a death anniversary ceremony at the Tay Son Tam Kiet Temple, expressing respect, remembrance and gratitude for the great contributions of the national hero Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue in the cause of building and defending the country.
At the ceremony, Mr. Huynh Van Loi - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Binh Dinh province - said that this year, Binh Dinh province has raised the level of the anniversary of Emperor Quang Trung's death. Each locality organized a tray of offerings to offer to the king. This year, for the first time, the People's Committee of Tay Son district organized a contest to decorate trays of offerings to the king.
"Through this death anniversary, we will continue to promote good traditional values to organize a death anniversary in accordance with traditional rituals, while also bringing new cultural features of the locality. This is also an opportunity for tourists to come to Binh Dinh to offer flowers, incense, and enjoy the relics in the province in general and the Tay Son Tam Kiet temple relic in particular," said Mr. Loi.
