According to Chinese media on July 28, Huynh Hieu Minh said that his family has moved to Shanghai to live. The most important reason given by the actor is wanting to be close to his son Tieu Hai Mien.
Previously, Huynh Hieu Minh's work was mainly concentrated in Beijing and many other localities. Meanwhile, his son lived and studied in Shanghai, so the two father and son did not have much time to meet regularly.
The actor once admitted that he was like a "father in vacations", because most of them could only arrange to meet their children on holidays, summer vacations or when scheduled. As Xiao Hai Mian grew older, Huynh Hieu Minh realized that being present in his children's daily lives was more important than short meetings.
After moving, the actor hopes to be able to directly take his son to school, participate more in the boy's activities and closely follow his growth process. He also took his parents to Shanghai, forming a three-generation life in the same city.
Xiao Hai Mian is studying at an international school in Shanghai. However, Huynh Hieu Minh did not publicly disclose the school name, tuition fees or details related to his child's studies.
Limiting disclosure also helps the boy avoid excessive public attention. Xiao Hai Mien is the common child of Huynh Hieu Minh and Angelababy, born in early 2017.
The two artists married in 2015 and announced their divorce in January 2022. After ending their marital relationship, they said they still take care of and accompany their son.
Huynh Hieu Minh's decision to move to Shanghai is also in line with his current study and work plans. In June 2026, the actor's name appeared in the list expected to be admitted to the doctoral program of the Shanghai Drama Academy.
According to the school's official announcement, Huynh Hieu Minh achieved a total score of 271.34, registered in the direction of art management and stage planning. A year earlier, he had applied but was not named in the final admission list.
