Producer Jerry Bruckheimer told the US media: "We are talking to Johnny Depp, working on a script and hoping to complete this project.
Some industry sources also revealed that the 6th part of the blockbuster series "Pirates of the Caribbean" will focus on the main character played by actress Margot Robbie, while Depp will return as a supporting character. Basically, this will be a new development direction for the brand.
Johnny Depp first played Captain Jack Sparrow in the 2003 film “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” directed by Gore Verbinski, with Orlando Bloom playing Will Turner and Keira Knightley playing Elizabeth Swann.
He continued to take on this role in part 2 of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Box of Death" in 2006 and part 3 of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The End of the World" released in 2007.
Depp also appeared in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Fresh Spring" in 2011 and closed the journey with the role of Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar Retaliation" in 2017.
Although the most recent film had a significant drop in revenue compared to the previous part, the entire franchise still grossed more than 4.5 billion USD at the global box office after 5 parts.

Although part 6 has been discussed for many years, screenwriter Stuart Beattie once hinted in 2018 that Depp would leave this iconic role.
I think he had a great journey. Clearly, he has turned that character into his own and now it has become the most famous character associated with him.
Children around the world love him in that role. So, I think this is great for him, great for us, and I'm really happy about it. I think Jack Sparrow will be his legacy. This is the only character he's ever played 5 times," Beattie shared.
Meanwhile, Johnny Depp will play Ebenezer Scrooge in the upcoming film "Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol", scheduled to be released on November 13.
In July, he appeared with an almost unrecognizable appearance when transforming into a character at Comic-Con San Diego to promote the movie.
This upcoming role will mark Depp's first major film since he won the infringement lawsuit in 2022 with his ex-wife Amber Heard, who married him from 2015 to 2017.
Johnny Depp sued the actress of "Aquaman" for allegedly hinting that he had abused her in a 2018 article. In the end, Depp was awarded 1 million USD under a settlement agreement.
