When songs about the Fatherland approach young audiences
The Vietnamese music market in recent times has witnessed the continuous appearance of programs and products inspired by the homeland and country.
Not only being expressed according to familiar patterns, many artists choose pop, rock, rap, combining folk materials or bringing stories about the country into products with images and narration close to young people.
At the concert "Fatherland in the Heart 2026" held on the evening of August 23rd in Ho Chi Minh City, about 70,000 spectators watched the program in heavy rain. Red flags with yellow stars appeared throughout the stands, while artists of many generations performed compositions about history, war, peace and love for the homeland.
Hoa Minzy brought "Pain in Peace" - a composition by Nguyen Van Chung. The performance did not focus on the atmosphere of victory but exploited the losses after the war, through the image of mothers and soldiers.
Meanwhile, Soobin combined "Nguoi Viet" and "Trong com", placing rap and modern music alongside folk material. Thousands of young audiences waved flags, turned on their phones and sang along to the male singer.
Not only on big stages, this spirit also spreads to released music products.
Duyen Quynh introduces the MV "Vietnam's radiant silk body", a song she composed from the end of 2025. Hanoi flagpole, Ha Long Bay, Northwest mountains and forests, Mekong Delta floating market and many regional cultural features are included in the product.
The female singer changed her image from costumes inspired by highland culture to ao ba ba in the Mekong Delta, and at the same time brought Khmer culture into the MV.
Le Xuan Nghi also chose this theme with "Bringing Vietnamese Soul to Everywhere". For the first time trying out pop-rock style of propaganda music, the female singer exploits the story from close things such as food, lifestyle, behavior and cultural features that Vietnamese people bring when traveling far away.
Love for the country told in new language
If Duyen Quynh and Le Xuan Nghi choose slices of scenery and people, Duong Quoc Hung performs a cross-Vietnam journey in the MV "Fatherland's Sky".
The male singer collaborates with NSND Thanh Hoa and young voice Nhím V, creating a meeting of three generations. The message "Every homeland sky is the sky of the Fatherland" becomes the guiding thread throughout the work.
In the MV, Duong Quoc Hung carries a red backpack with the national flag, passing through many lands from Ha Giang, Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, Con Dao and Ca Mau.
Each place name not only plays the role of setting. In Ha Giang, the male singer learns about local life and culture and appears with ethnic minority children. In other destinations, the landscape is placed next to images of people, rhythm of life and unique cultural features. Young artists do not necessarily tell patriotic stories in the same forms as previous generations. Pop-rock, rap, electronic music or contemporary folk materials are becoming new means to convey the same theme.
The visual part is increasingly focused on. Ha Giang, Ca Mau, Con Dao, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Long Bay, Northwest or Mekong Delta continuously appear in MVs. Scenery is placed next to costumes, cuisine, community life and local culture, thereby creating an additional layer of promotion for the image of Vietnam.
The response of tens of thousands of spectators at large concerts also shows that songs about the country still have the ability to create attraction when placed in a staging and language suitable for today's public.
Through music, culture, scenery and the stories of Vietnamese people are being told in the language of many generations.
