Young people spread patriotism in the digital space: Do not let kindness stop at the like button

Thanh Chân |

Ho Chi Minh City - On the occasion of September 2nd, patriotism is spreading strongly on social networks, but also requires standard and lawful awareness to avoid becoming a temporary trend.

These days, browsing social media platforms, it is not difficult to see the brilliant red color from background-changing photos, clips recording heroic moments at concerts to each proud status about the country.

The feeling of pride rises every time I see red flags with yellow stars and kind stories spreading throughout social networks. Most recently, the image of free water bottles and ice boxes for drivers and street vendors on Le Van Luong street" - Ms. Minh Thu (21 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) expressed.

The patriotism and compassion of today's young generation is not only confined to buttons or slogans in the "virtual world", but is being realized by simple, kind actions right in everyday life.

Bring kindness out of the screen

Amidst the hustle and bustle of life in Ho Chi Minh City, the story of Ms. Thanh Phuong (28 years old) and Mr. Phu Thinh - owner of the TikTok channel "Drawing Happiness", designing and drawing free signs for people making a living, has strongly inspired the spirit of compassion. In the past 2 years, despite drawing many signs, the group has only selected and broadcast about 170 stories because they always put respect for the private life and emotions of the characters first.

We believe that when a story is told with sincerity, that story will naturally reach the hearts of listeners without the need for reckless view-baiting tricks. Patriotism or compassion should not be a trend (trend) for us to catch up with, but we make it a lifestyle. The value we give is what stays for a long time" - Ms. Phuong shared with Lao Dong Newspaper.

Not stopping at the digital space, the biggest message that these young people aim for is the transformation of emotions into specific actions in real life.

Don't let kindness stop at a like or a comment, let it exist with a practical action. When everyone contributes a little kindness, I believe that this society will become warmer and warmer" - Ms. Phuong shared.

Spreading and responsible creativity

The patriotism of the young generation in the digital space is also strongly expressed through the application of technology to create cultural products and restore history.

However, along with this explosion is the risk of deviation from standards, from clip editing for "profit from love" to arbitrary commercialization and copyright infringement of historical documents.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Nguyen Dong Nguyen - Deputy Director of the Center for Creative Investment and Digital Copyright Exploitation of Vietnam said that the application of AI, digital graphics or short videos to tell historical stories is a very positive signal, helping young people access ethnic culture more closely. However, technology is just a tool, the core still lies in the sense of responsibility of creators.

It is necessary to clearly distinguish between exploiting the value of a creative product of patriotism and commercializing patriotism by infringing upon the rights of others or using national and ethnic symbols inappropriately" - Mr. Dong Nguyen assessed.

According to Mr. Nguyen, young people need to form responsible creative thinking and own the assets they create. The more technology develops, the more copyright awareness and cultural responsibility must go one step ahead. When that is done, patriotism in the digital space can go further than a trend, to become cultural products and intellectual property with long-term value.
