Recently, management company Gold Medalist posted some videos from Kim Soo Hyun's interview, when he participated in the live program celebrating the 37th anniversary of private television station RCTI+ in Jakarta (Indonesia) called "Mahakarya RCTI 37".
In the video, Kim Soo Hyun appears with a fresh and comfortable appearance chatting about fans.
The actor shared about his love for acting: "I feel like I made the right choice to become an actor. I think it would be very interesting if fans introduce the characters they want me to play in TV series.
The actor's statement attracted attention in the context that he began to return to showbiz after more than 1 year of almost no public appearance, due to controversy related to his past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron.
In the interview, Kim Soo Hyun maintained a cheerful attitude, said he wanted to go to Bali and introduced some items he usually carried in his bag. He looked thinner than before but always smiled.
The appearance in Indonesia marked Kim Soo Hyun's first return to the camera after about 17 months. At the program, he performed and interacted with local fans, opening the process of reappearing, which initially focused on activities abroad.
Currently, the male actor's comeback plan has been confirmed with a schedule in Korea.
Kim Soo Hyun will appear as the award presenter at The Fact Music Awards 2026, scheduled to take place at the Asiad Busan Stadium on September 19. This is the first time he has officially appeared in front of the Korean public after about a year and a half.
In October, he plans to hold a fan-meeting in the Philippines, before attending the Asia Artist Awards 2026 ceremony at Kaohsiung National Stadium, Taiwan (China) on December 5-6.
Kim Soo Hyun temporarily suspended his activities from March 2025 after allegations appeared that he dated Kim Sae Ron when she was underage. The actor's side denied that the relationship started when she was not old enough and carried out legal procedures.
Kim Se Ui - head of YouTube channel Garo Sero - where the above allegations were made - was later arrested and prosecuted on various charges, including slander for spreading false information. This person is currently under house arrest.
Seongdong Police Station, Seoul also decided not to transfer Kim Soo Hyun's file to prosecutors for allegations of violating the Law on Child Welfare and slander, due to insufficient grounds to convict.
Kim Soo Hyun's return to showbiz is being accelerated, but the public still has mixed opinions.
