After the "Red Rain" project and some other film projects, what made you decide to return to the films "Oc muon hon" and "Mat ma Dong Duong"?
- If I answer jokingly, I say I'm going to make money. But in fact, in the movie "Oc muon hon", I have to go through a casting process like any other actor. Up to now, in addition to the "Mat ma Dong Duong" project that the producer and director actively invited me to participate in, I have to audition for most other film projects.
In fact, audiences often remember Luong Gia Huy as a person with outstanding appearance, toned body and strong personality roles. I have also read many comments saying that I only have an advantage in appearance but have not proven my acting ability. Therefore, being given diverse characters like in the 2 films "Oc muon hon" and "Mat ma Dong Duong" is an opportunity for me to show the audience another aspect of myself.
Audiences know you from the roles of model, male king and reality shows. What fate brought you to cinema?
- For me, everything is art. Actually, the desire to pursue cinema has appeared a long time ago, not just recently.
In 2015, after winning the Supermodel title, I received quite a lot of advice from seniors. Everyone said that I should try my hand at acting because this is a field that can help me develop for a longer time.
I also registered for acting classes, but at that time there was too much work. Every school day, I was busy with other schedules. Therefore, fate kept being missed.
It wasn't until 2019 that I really had the opportunity to step into my first film project. After that, I chose to slow down. Some people thought I would quit my job or switch completely to business. But that's not the case. I spent time learning, training and preparing more carefully for my acting journey.
I understand that in art, opportunities are very important. But if you are not capable enough and receive too many opportunities, it is difficult to maintain a long-term position. Therefore, I choose to invest in myself, both in appearance and expertise.
Why did you decide to stick with art?
- I think the profession chooses people more than people choose the profession. When I entered this field, I realized I really loved it. The feeling of being in the profession, being creative, being transformed into different characters gives me the motivation to continue.
If it were just for money, perhaps I would have chosen a more stable job a long time ago. Art is a very precarious profession. There are periods of unpaid work or very low income. But if you don't have passion, it's difficult for anyone to have been in the same profession for more than 10 years like me.
What difficulties did you go through before you got to your current position?
- I do not come from a wealthy family or have special conditions. Before being on stage, being known by the audience or appearing in newspapers, I did many different jobs to earn a living. I used to serve at coffee shops, work at printing workshops, load goods and many other general labor jobs.
Those experiences help me understand the value of money. Therefore, I never underestimate the opportunity to work today.
For me, food and money are always important issues. We must live first and then talk about bigger things. But when we have been attached to the profession long enough, love for the profession also appears naturally.
How did your family react when you pursued art?
- Initially, the family was very happy. Parents see their children appearing on television, being mentioned in the press, they will naturally be proud.
But that joy quickly came with worry. My family always asked me if this job was enough to live on, what the future would be like, whether I would think about getting married or building a stable life.
Many times my relatives advised me to switch to another more stable job. They don't want to see their children grow up and still live precariously.
Actually, I myself have thought about stopping. Sometimes I feel that the artistic path is not suitable for me. But every time I intend to give up, a new project, a new opportunity or a cooperation invitation pulls me back.
Gradually, I thought maybe this is a real job for me.
After more than 10 years in the profession, have you felt financially secure yet?
- Actually, it is very difficult to say what is enough. I am always worried about my family. The older I get, the more aware I become that my parents are no longer as healthy as before. What makes me think the most is whether my current job is stable enough to protect my family in the future or not?
I always hope I can work harder, develop better to be able to take care of my loved ones when needed.
What does the success in the "Red Rain" project bring to you?
- This is a very special project. The film helps me become more known to the audience, and also brings positive changes in my work.
But going along with attention is pressure. When the audience starts to place more expectations, I am forced to make efforts to make the next projects better and not go backwards. I see that as motivation to continue trying.
Once an artist with straightforward statements leading to controversy, at the present time, are you still afraid of scandals?
- Yes! After many years in the profession, I understand that a mistake can sometimes take me a lot of time to correct.
Now I am no longer young. The most important thing is to work seriously, focus on self-development and limit unnecessary mistakes.
In the next 5 to 10 years, how do you want the audience to see you?
- I hope I will have more good roles, many quality projects and a more stable life. I want the audience to remember Luong Gia Huy as a serious professional, always trying to learn and constantly improving himself.
I don't want to stand still. I want to continue to move forward, continue to prove my ability with my own work and the roles I perform.
Thank you for sharing!
