A shooting in the city of Stade in northern Germany on June 29 (local time) killed 6 people, with 3 suspects arrested by police, Xinhua reported.
According to German authorities, the shooting occurred at a youth welfare facility in the city center of Stade, Lower Saxony.
German authorities confirmed that the 6 deaths were all employees of this facility, of which 5 died at the scene and the sixth victim later died in the hospital; 3 suspects have been arrested by police, including 1 man who opened fire and 2 women.
According to police, a custody dispute over a 3-month-old baby is likely to have led to this case. The male suspect is the baby's father, born in Germany into a Turkish family.
At a press conference on the evening of June 29, German authorities said that the woman who tried to escape with the suspect by car was closely related to the suspect's family. Police also confirmed that the baby's mother was the second woman arrested.
German authorities said there is no evidence that the case has political or economic motives. The investigation is still ongoing, and the police have not yet determined the motives.
