In the program "Memories of Youth", famous singer Thai Chau brought the audience back to the time when cassette tapes were still a "measure" of a singer's appeal. Not just a souvenir, the cassette tape he brought to the program became the door to the golden years - when the recording studio lit up all night, the songs spread in a very unique way and the audience's love was measured by rolls of tapes "buy and listen immediately".
Sharing with MC Minh Ngoc, Thai Chau for the first time recounted the predestined relationship that led him to turn from a drummer to a professional singer. When he was in school, he often participated in cultural activities and received support from friends. At a year-end party at school, Thai Chau was asked to sing and received praise from his teacher. That recognition became a turning point when he was guided and trained in vocals by his teacher, laying a solid foundation for his singing career later.
Mentioning a special souvenir - the cassette tape, the male singer said that it was the "witness" of the period when he was warmly loved by the audience. According to Thai Chau, each release of about 10,000 copies, sold out in less than a month, forcing the producer to continuously re-release to meet demand. To keep up with the recording and release schedule, he used to work continuously from 10 am to 2 - 3 am the next morning. Difficult as it was, but the feeling of happiness when the product was released and welcomed by the public became a great motivation in his career.
Speaking of the cassette tape mark, Thai Chau mentioned the resounding success of two popular tapes: "Thu o ay co em" (That time I was there) and "Muoi nam yeu em" (Ten years of loving you). For him, the songs sent by the musician are all worthy of respect. Because each time the author "choosees to send gold" also means placing faith in the voice and ability to convey emotions of Thai Chau - the person who represents the musician to bring thoughts and feelings in the song to the audience.
In the program, famous singer Thai Chau also created sympathy with his open perspective when talking about trying his hand at young music. He believes that music always moves with the times and positive values, touching emotions, are worthy of being received, rather than conservative. In particular, when sitting as a judge in many playgrounds, he feels happy to interact with young talents and considers them valuable lessons for both the previous and future generations. However, the male singer emphasized that the most important thing is still to preserve the "soul" and identity of Vietnamese music.
Sending advice to young people who love singing, Thai Chau emphasized understanding his strengths and style to focus on developing. When there is a solid foundation, artists can break the mold and experiment with other genres. With songs that have been successfully performed by previous generations, he believes that young singers need to listen and feel the lyrics carefully to grasp the true spirit of the work, thereby finding a new way of expressing but still maintaining depth.
