Lung Cam village in Sung La commune (Dong Van) is home mainly to the H'Mong, Lo Lo, and Hoa ethnic groups.
The highlight here is the peace and simplicity of the local people. In particular, the rammed earth houses, which are over 100 years old, contribute to the antiquity. Most of the houses are designed in the highland architectural style, suitable for the harsh climate conditions.
All were built by hand with available materials such as earth for the walls, tiles, wood and surrounding stone fences. The village is surrounded by a series of rocky mountains like a protective wall.
The roof is covered with yin-yang tiles, the walls are made of earth. The floor is paved with large stone blocks meticulously carved by the hands of craftsmen. The color of the tiles blends with the gray color of the rocky mountains, creating a beautiful picture standing out in the middle of the rocky plateau.
Over time, the roofs are covered with a layer of green moss, creating an even more ancient look for the village. This is also a highlight that attracts many tourists when coming to the Dong Van stone plateau.
Ms. Ho Thi Thanh Huyen (a tourist from Hanoi) said that the rustic and ancient beauty of Lung Cam. When coming here, you feel the pace of life slow down. In addition to admiring the natural scenery, visitors can also immerse themselves in the life of the highland people.
"The houses are hundreds of years old, contributing to the ancientness. The people here are very friendly.
Every time I have the opportunity to come to Ha Giang, my family visits Lung Cam. The beauty here helps me love my homeland Vietnam even more," said Ms. Huyen.
Amidst a majestic rocky plateau, the pace of life in Lung Cam slows down, creating a sense of peace. With this beauty, Lung Cam VHDL Village became the main setting in the film “Pao’s Story” adapted from the work “The Jew’s Harp Behind the Stone Fence”. The film later won many important awards at the 2005 Golden Kite Film Festival.
On October 13, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Ms. Le Thi Bo - Vice Chairman of Sung La Commune People's Committee said that Lung Cam is a cultural and tourist village of the locality.
"Coming to Lung Cam, visitors will experience the activities and lives of ethnic minorities and see the glass houses.
With the aim of promoting tourism development, the locality regularly organizes festivals and interesting activities to attract tourists," said Ms. Bo.
