The movie "Gold Land" revolves around Hee Joo (Park Bo Young) - a security checker at the international airport, who suddenly holds gold bars related to a smuggling ring. From then on, she is caught up in a fierce pursuit between greedy forces, in the journey to regain control of the gold.
Sharing about the project, Park Bo Young said she was attracted by the opportunity to try her hand at the crime film genre - a new direction compared to her familiar image before. According to the actress, this change may bring many different reactions from the audience, but it is also a necessary step to refresh herself.
To suit the character Hee Joo - who has a traumatic past and constantly faces dangerous situations, Park Bo Young lost weight throughout the filming process. In addition, she restrained makeup, aiming for a natural, simple appearance to more clearly express the character's circumstances and psychology.
“Hee Joo is a strong character, going through many changes. If before I often played roles of people overcoming challenges with smiles, this time I want to portray a face struggling to survive, even when dry and tired” - the actress shared.
On the villain's side, Lee Kwang Soo plays Director Park - a person obsessed with ambition and constantly searching for lost gold. He proactively proposed to the director more details such as scars and gold teeth to add accents to the character.
The actor said that he even spent his own money to complete the image, and jokingly said that he was willing to publicly post messages to prove that the idea belonged to him.
In addition to Park Bo Young and Lee Kwang Soo, the film also stars Kim Sung Cheol, Lee Hyun Wook, Kim Hee Won, Moon Jung Hee. The work is directed by Kim Seong Hoon, with script by Hwang Jo Yoon.
The movie "Gold Land" is 10 episodes long, expected to be released from April 29 with the first two episodes, then aired two episodes per week.
