The Manipulated is an action film about Tae Joong ( Ji Chang Wook) - a man with a normal life, who is suddenly caught up in a serious criminal case and wrongly convicted.
He later discovers that everything is arranged by Yo Han (Do Kyung Soo/D.O), and begins to carry out a revenge plan.
In the film, Lee Kwang Soo plays Baek Do Kyung - one of Yo Han's VIP customers, who holds power and wealth, and is also the "key" to the case involving Tae Joong.
Compared to the usual humorous image, Lee Kwang Soo's role this time is somewhat different. In the images of the character posted by the producer, it can be seen that Baek Do Kyung appears with many emotional states, sometimes calm and confident, sometimes cold and mysterious.
Talking about his character, Lee Kwang Soo shared: I want Do Kyung to look like someone who makes viewers feel uncomfortable just by looking at him. I tried my best to make this character feel insecure for viewers.
Meanwhile, director Park Shin Woo praised the actor: Lee Kwang Soo portrayed Do Kyung in a way that makes it impossible to imagine anyone else who could play this role.
Screenwriter Oh Sang Ho also commented: Lee Kwang Soo is the hidden gem of The Manipulated because it is unlikely to make even normal lines unusual.
Korean media hopes that Lee Kwang Soo's role as Do Kyung in the movie "The Manipulated" will be a new milestone in his career.
The reason is that before that, his successful villainous role as an east-ited doctor Sang Hoon in the movie Karma (Khien Duyen) created a buzz, bringing home the Best Supporting Actor award at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards (taking place in July 2025).
Commenting on Lee Kwang Soo's performance, Shin Min Ah gave many compliments to the actor's realistic and multi-dimensional acting. Thanks to that, the characters' emotions are more vivid than what is written in the script.
The Manipulated is 12 episodes long. The film will release the first 4 episodes on November 5, then will air 2 episodes/week.
