Adapted from the novel by Mai Bao Tieu Lang Quan, "The Great Phoenix Strikes the Policeman" tells the story of Duong Lang (Vuong Hac De) - a passionate young policeman.
Due to an accident, he traveled back to the Dai Phung dynasty with the identity of Hua That An, but immediately had to face a major incident, when his uncle Hua Chu Binh was accused of tax evasion, causing the whole family to become prisoners.
To survive, That An uses the content from the crime investigation books he read in modern times as well as his knowledge of mathematics, physics, and chemistry to expose the case and clear his family's name.
After the incident, That An became famous as a "master of solving cases" and was highly regarded. However, he tried to find his own path, creating a completely new Dai Phung. During this journey, he developed a romantic relationship with Lam An (Dien Hi Vi) - the second princess with an innocent, arrogant but also very lovable personality.
On November 22, the producer confirmed that the film has been licensed to air with 40 episodes. The film is currently in the process of calling for investment and is expected to air on December 12.
Despite being rated S+ (the highest investment level that the platform uses to produce films) and being Tencent's "trump card" with 3 million pre-orders, "The Great Phoenix Strikes the Canh Nhan" still faces some concerns before its broadcast.
According to the audience, the style of the film is somewhat similar to "Khanh khanh nhat thuong" (another film starring Dien Hi Vi), so the content will likely not be too dramatic but rather entertaining.
On the other hand, Vuong Hac De's acting skills are not stable, so his ability to work well with his co-stars is still unknown. Meanwhile, Dien Hi Vi has recently lost points for playing the role of Ha Tri Nam - a girl who always wants to be cared for and extorts money from her boyfriend in the movie "Ban thuc nam nu" (Half familiar, half strange).
In addition to the flawed script, the actress’s acting was also criticized for being stereotyped. Her big round eyes were often commented on for being glaring in many emotional scenes, making viewers unable to sympathize with the character.
Furthermore, the character development of Lam An that she played in "The Great Phoenix" was criticized because when she learned that her grandfather was killed by the male lead, she did not feel any hatred. She was even willing to marry him later.
Although most people think that when making a movie, the screenwriter will reduce the controversial details, but with the plot of "Dai Phung Da Canh Nhan", if there is no love line, it is still acceptable. Because the movie is about a male protagonist, if the love element is not handled properly, it can lead to more controversy.
