While before broadcasting, the film had more than 1.34 million pre-orders, more than 500 times in the search top, the soundtrack gathered both Luu Vu Ninh and Ho Ha. However, after only 4 hours of broadcasting, all the glory collapsed with an interest level of 18,878 points on Tencent and 832 points on iQiYi.
But the disaster is not only in numbers. According to QQ, sources in the industry revealed that the film was invested with 250 million CNY, filming outdoor scenes in the Qinghai plateau.
However, when half of the episodes were broadcast, the film had no advertising, becoming the first S+ level historical film of 2026 without a sponsor. Brands simultaneously withdrew capital, the number of new users did not reach 10% of the target, and revenue shared from the platform was almost zero.
Industry sources said that "Băng hồ trọng sinh" could lose about 200 million CNY - a huge amount of money considered "overflowing".
Producer Truong Mong once shared that when preparing to film "Princess Agents" part 2, her first choice was to invite an old cast including Trieu Le Dinh and Lam Canh Tan, but for many reasons it was not successful.
The fact that "Bang Ho Trong Sinh" uses new actors such as Hoang Duong Dien Diem, Ly Quan Nhue, Truong Khang Lac is inevitable.
But the incident happened when the film was in the post-production stage, the female lead Hoang Duong Dien Diem was involved in a "earring" scandal, causing her image in the public eye to seriously decline.
In May 2025, Hoang Duong Dien Diem was involved in controversy because of a series of mature photos, from a pair of green earrings suspected of being expensive luxury goods, netizens doubted her family background; asking why her father, who is an official with low income, has the ability to buy luxury goods.
Although the actress later explained that the earrings were just fake and cost about 100 yuan, few people believed it.
The wave of protests rose high, audiences simultaneously requested the producer of "Băng hồ trọng sinh" to change the female lead - partly due to scandals, partly because they assessed Hoang Duong Dien Diem as too immature, not suitable for the female general character So Kieu.
But Truong Mong did not listen to this call. When the film aired, Hoang Duong Dien Diem's soulless and unconvincing acting continued to be ridiculed, further causing the work to receive negative reactions.
