According to representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Drama Theater, the criteria for choosing plays to perform during Tet for the audience are plays that bring laughter along with meaningful messages about family and love.
At Truong Hung Minh Drama Theater by Meritorious Artist Minh Nhi, on this occasion, the theater chose the play "Suddenly Winning the Lottery" to perform. The play is a story revolving around Mr. Tu's family who won the lottery and thought that the whole family would change their lives and escape the life of poor workers. However, because they did not know how to use money, they fell into ridiculous situations that made them lose everything. The play aims at a humanistic perspective, when ordinary people only need to know enough to be happy. The play has the participation of famous artists and actors such as: Meritorious Artist Minh Nhi, People's Artist Huu Quoc, Binh Tinh, Hua Minh Dat, Phan Thi Mo, Gia Bao, Bao Bao...
Different from the color of Truong Hung Minh Drama Theater, Hong Van Drama Theater launched the play "Silent Room" (performed on January 4, 2025) with horror and psychological elements. The play is about the character Ngoc - who has lost his memory and is haunted by a ghost-like illusion. One day later, on January 5, 2025, Hong Van Theater launched the comedy "Butterfly Soul Caterpillar" telling the story of Mrs. Le's family's New Year's Eve. The two new plays of Hong Van Theater have the participation of artists: People's Artist Hong Van - Meritorious Artist Oc Thanh Van, Hoang Son, Huu Nghia, Lam Vy Da, Dinh Manh Phuc...
Children's audiences are also interested in the theaters on this occasion. Small theater 5B presents the play "Animal Rescue Station" with a New Year's version, for preschool and primary school children and their families. The play tells the story of all kinds of animals living in harmony in the green forest, befriending a kind nurse. One day, everyone must join hands, unite to break the kidnapping plot of a group of hunters, protecting the sustainable development of nature.
To match the New Year atmosphere, the stage will incorporate many fun songs and dances.

People's Artist My Uyen - representative of 5B Drama Stage said that at the beginning of the new year, people always want to welcome a year full of excitement and joy, dispelling the worries of the old year. Therefore, the stages will choose plays with more positive energy.
Whether comedy, horror or psychological, they all incorporate charming comedic elements to create a fun atmosphere.
Meritorious Artist Minh Nhi said that Truong Hung Minh Drama Theater chose the play “Suddenly Winning the Lottery” with a family message to perform at the end of the year and welcome the new year. The play hopes that the audience will put aside their worries, look back on the past year to realize what has been achieved and what has not been achieved, and from there strive together, overcome difficulties, bond and love each other more.
