On August 10, Jeongyeon (TWICE) posted a handwritten letter to fans, directly announcing her new beginning.
In the letter, Jeongyeon said: "After a long time attached to JYP since I was a teenager until now, I will leave the company and start a new journey elsewhere.
Talking about the decision to leave the company that has accompanied her for decades, she shared: "Leaving a place that is too familiar makes me feel worried, but thanks to the members and ONCE (TWICE fan community) who always trust me, I have enough courage.
The female singer also sent thanks to TWICE members, fans and JYP's staff - those who helped her grow up to where she is today.
In particular, Jeongyeon directly spoke out about his future with TWICE, which fans are most interested in.
She emphasized: "Although moving to a new house and starting a new challenge, TWICE is still the most important thing in my heart and will never change. Being in front of ONCE as a TWICE member will always be my top priority".
This means that Jeongyeon left her management company JYP but still continues to operate as a member of the group TWICE.
Jeongyeon debuted with Kpop group TWICE in 2015. The group has continuously achieved success with songs such as "Like Ooh-Ahh", "Cheer up", "TT" and received great love in Korea as well as internationally.
Previously, all TWICE members had extended their contracts with JYP in 2022. After that, the group continued to operate together, while promoting personal activities.
Recently, as the time for TWICE's next contract renewal is approaching, many speculations have emerged about the possibility of some members changing companies. In addition to Jeongyeon, members such as Tzuyu and Jihyo were also rumored to have left JYP.
Immediately after Jeongyeon announced her separation from JYP, on August 10, Varo Entertainment quickly announced that it had signed an exclusive contract with Jeongyeon.
The company said: "Based on the global influence that she has built throughout her career as an artist, we will become a solid partner, wholeheartedly supporting her in many aspects so that she can carry out a new challenge as an actress, and continue to facilitate group activities.
Varo Entertainment is also the management company of actress Gong Seung Yeon - Jeongyeon's biological sister. In addition, the company also has actors such as Jin Goo, Byeon Woo Seok, Park Jung woo, Lee Yoo Mi, Lee Hong Mae, Lee Soo Kyung, Lee Chae Min...
Joining a new company, Jeongyeon is predicted to expand her scope of operations. Recently, she has completed the filming process for the movie "New recruit: The movie".
