JYP Entertainment has just made another milestone in the international music market when 18 artists under the company were admitted as voting members of the American Academy of Recording - the organizer of the prestigious Grammy music awards.
The list includes founder Park Jin Young (JYP), 9 members of Twice and 8 members of Stray Kids. As voting members, the artists will participate in the nomination and voting process for the Grammy categories.
According to the regulations of the Academy, voting members are artists, musicians, producers, sound engineers and creative people who are professionally active in the music industry. These are people who directly participate in selecting nominations and winners at the annual Grammy Awards.
Besides 18 artists, JYP Entertainment CEO - Jung Wook and JYP America Strategic Director cum CEO - Shin Hyun Kook were admitted as professional members. This group of members does not have the right to vote but is allowed to participate in connection activities, professional programs and the application process for entries organized by the Academy.
The fact that many JYP artists joined the US Academy of Recording reflects the increasingly clear presence of the company in the US music market. In recent years, JYP-affiliated artists have continuously expanded international activities, especially in North America, through tours, album releases and promotion of new products.
Debuting in 2015, Twice is one of the most successful K-pop girl groups of the third generation. The group owns many famous songs such as "Cheer Up", "TT", "What Is Love?", "Fancy" and "Feel Special". Not only maintaining its appeal in Asia, Twice also expanded its operations in the US with many large-scale tours and products aimed at the international market.
Meanwhile, Stray Kids is one of the male K-pop groups that has achieved many outstanding achievements in the US. Since 2022, the group has continuously brought albums to number one on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming one of the Korean artists with impressive achievements in this market. Stray Kids' world tours also recorded a large audience in North America and Europe.
On Park Jin Young's side, the founder of JYP Entertainment still holds the role of Creative Director (CCO) after leaving his position as a member of the board of directors at the beginning of the year. With nearly 30 years of activity in the music field, he is not only successful as a singer but also contributes to training and developing many influential K-pop artists in the international market.
Founded in 1957, the American Academy of Recording is an organization representing the creative community in the US recording industry and has been the organizer of the Grammy Awards since 1959. In addition to annually voting for awards, this organization also implements many programs to support artists, producers and music experts.
The 69th Grammy Awards are scheduled to take place on February 7, 2027 (local time) in Los Angeles (USA). The fact that Park Jin Young, TWICE and Stray Kids became voting members is seen as a sign of the increasing deep participation of K-pop artists in the professional activities of the international music industry, in addition to achievements in charts and performance stages.
