On November 20, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City organized a seminar to consult experts on solutions for preserving ship relics appearing on the coast of Hoi An Tay Ward.
Speaking at the seminar, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - said that the relic discovered in the coastal area of Hoi An Tay ward was the first time in the city that an ancient ship relic was discovered almost intact.
The city's leaders assessed that the conservation of this archaeological relic is a complex field, requiring in-depth knowledge, modern techniques and the participation of scientists, researchers, management agencies, localities and communities. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure current regulations on cultural heritage in general and archaeology in particular.

All assessments and assessments to come up with solutions need to be extremely cautious, based on science and prediction to resolve all factors that may affect the relic, aiming at the goal of preserving the relic's authenticity and long-term nature - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.
The Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center informed that from the end of 2023, ship relics will appear in the coastal area of Thinh My, Hoi An Tay ward. In the past 2 years, the coast of this area has been experiencing strong erosion, sand and soil have been washed away, so new wooden piles shaped like the wreck have been revealed and the ships will appear most clearly in early November 2025.
Currently, the coastal area where the relics were discovered is being affected by frequent waves and tides, leading to the risk of the relics being destroyed.
Especially with the increasing climate change, coastal erosion is always present. If there are no timely solutions for excavation, research and conservation, leaving relics in the wild will lead to the risk of serious damage.
At the seminar, experts assessed that this ancient ship relic is one of the rare documents, serving the research of Hoi An history and culture and is a rare material record to study and clarify maritime, economic and trade activities in Hoi An in the previous period.
