According to a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, the Department has received information about the noisy statement of singer Le Quyen. The specialized art department will advise the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports from a cultural perspective on the artist's behavior.
The review aims to clarify the level, nature of the statement as well as the conformity with current codes of conduct for artists.
Previously, on January 10, Le Quyen posted a video during a personal trip. Under the comment section, a account left a comment in English: "Her flop era lowkey serving" (tentatively understood: no longer at its peak but still quite attractive). The female singer responded with harsh, offensive words. The response was quickly captured and spread on many social media platforms, sparking debate about the artist's behavior in the face of mixed opinions from the public.
Many opinions said that Le Quyen's reaction was "too much", not suitable for the image of a highly influential artist. On the contrary, some viewers expressed sympathy, believing that artists have the right to protect themselves from satirical and personal attacking comments.
On the evening of January 11, Le Quyen spoke up to explain. She said that recently she has often faced anonymous accounts that fabricate information, causing negative impacts on her work and personal life. According to the female singer, constantly receiving negative comments has caused her to react strongly as a way of self-defense. At the same time, Le Quyen wants to have more specific sanctions and regulations to handle acts of harassing and insulting others with words in cyberspace. The female singer also apologized to fans because the incident has made the audience worried.
In December 2021, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a code of conduct for artists, which requires art practitioners when participating in the media and social network environment to make appropriate and cultured statements, avoiding causing conflict, division or using offensive language.
Le Quyen, born in 1981 in Hanoi, is one of the outstanding voices of lyrical and bolero music.
