On the afternoon of October 16, at a press conference providing information on socio-economic issues in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City said that it had sent an urgent dispatch to the authorities under the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, requesting verification and strict handling of YouTube channels with seriously insulting words to Duc Ta Quan Le Van Duyet, King Gia Long and physicist Truong Vinh Ky.
According to recent reader feedback, some YouTubers have defamed and seriously insulted the honor of Duc Ta Quan Le Van Duyet.
This behavior is considered a great disrespect, seriously insulting the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking" of the nation, causing deep spiritual damage in the community and affecting the solemnity of the National Historical and Cultural Relic Site of Lang Tu Van Duyet (Lang Ong - Ba Chieu).
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City emphasized that the city has recognized the great contributions and talents of Duc Ta Quan Le Van Duyet in opening the border and developing the Saigon - Gia Dinh land by naming the road and preserving the Lang Ong historical and cultural relic site.
Posting false information and defaming famous people like free soldier Le Van Duyet is considered an insult to national heroes and a serious violation of prohibited acts stipulated in the Law on Cyber Security.
To prevent and promptly handle violations in cyberspace, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City issued Official Letter No. 4906/SVHTT-TTDT dated October 8, 2025 to: Department of Cyber Security and Prevention of High-Tech Crime (Ministry of Public Security); Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).
The Department requests that these agencies support, verify the identity and handle according to the provisions of law for the subject who posted false information about the Liberation Army Le Van Duyet.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also issued a strict warning for those who create content in cyberspace.
Accordingly, people working in digital content need to clearly understand and absolutely not violate prohibited acts as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 8 of the Law on Cyber Security, especially the behavior of: "Spreading history, denying revolutionary achievements, destroying the great national unity bloc, insulting religion" and " field information causes panic among the people".
Users of social networking services must comply with management regulations and be responsible for the content of information provided and transmitted on social networks according to the provisions of Decree 147/2024/ND-CP of the Government. At the same time, it is necessary to comply with the provisions of specialized laws and laws on taxes and payments when there are related business activities on social networks.
