64 billion VND to protect 2 relics along the Red River
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported since October 2025, at the bank section of the Thao River (Red River) corresponding to Km53 - Km54+300, Hien Quan commune, there is a strong landslide, the length of the landslide section is about 1.3km, locally there are landslide locations adjacent to auxiliary works and fences of households.
In particular, in the area of Vuc Long Pagoda and Vuc Truong communal house (which are 2 provincial-level historical relics), landslides have adjacent to the pagoda yard, some cracks have appeared in the yard; some areas of land, architectural structures, trees, and crops in the area have been swept away; directly threatening over 50 households...
On October 27, 2025, Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 1537/QD-UBND, announcing an emergency situation for natural disasters and issuing an Emergency Construction Order to respond to landslides.

On November 13, 2025, the Sub-Department of Irrigation and Water Resources (under the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Phu Tho province) issued Decision No. 201, approving the results of contractor appointment for bidding packages of the project: Urgent handling of landslide incidents on the banks and dyke of the right Thao river section Km53 - km54+300 of Hien Quan commune and section Km71+300 - Km72+300 of Tam Nong commune.
According to the decision, the contractor designated to win the construction package is Tu Lap Construction Co., Ltd., the winning bid price is more than 64.7 billion VND (completed before March 31, 2026).
According to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in the last days of January 2026, a corrugated iron embankment is being built right below Vuc Long Pagoda and Vuc Truong communal house, protecting 2 relics from riverbank erosion.

40 billion VND to renovate Pho Quang Pagoda after a major fire
As Lao Dong Newspaper reported at the end of October 2024, Pho Quang Pagoda (also known as Xuan Lung Pagoda) - a national historical relic in Xuan Lung commune, former Lam Thao district (now Xuan Lung commune, Phu Tho province) caught fire, causing many property damages.
According to statistics, the damages include: The entire wooden part, the yin tiled roof, the electrical system were burned and damaged, and the earthen and wooden statues in the Tam Bao were damaged by heat. Preliminary estimates, the total material damage value is about 25 billion VND.

The project to repair and restore Xuan Lung pagoda relic, Xuan Lung commune, Lam Thao district was approved according to Decision No. 3503/QD-UBND dated June 16, 2025 of the old Lam Thao District People's Committee, with a total investment of 40 billion VND.
Belonging to the project, Package No. 02: Construction of works and equipment has just completed the contractor selection. The joint venture of Vietnam Civil Construction and Cultural Works Joint Stock Company and Hung Lam Heritage Construction and Preservation Joint Stock Company - won the bid with a price of more than 33.52 billion VND.

According to the bidding documents, the project will repair and renovate Pho Quang Pagoda with the items: Tam Bao Palace; interior of Tam Bao Palace and Mother House; Tam Quan gate... Building new works: Lecture hall, offering house, monk house.
Along with that, invest in repairing, embellishing and building new auxiliary items including: infrastructure, landscape gardens; water supply and drainage; overall power supply system; fire prevention and fighting; toilets; kitchens; cremation floors... synchronously according to the project level.

The project is invested with the goal of preserving, conserving, restoring and promoting the value of relics, traditional cultural and religious activities, serving the needs of sightseeing and tourism, improving the spiritual and cultural life of the people; contributing to preserving national cultural identity.
Pho Quang Pagoda is about 800 years old and still preserves many valuable artifacts and antiques from many dynasties from Tran, Le Nguyen.
The most special thing is that in the Main Hall there is a lotus stone pedestal made in 1387, used as a Buddha altar and has never moved its location since then. In 2021, this stone pedestal was recognized as a National Treasure.
