On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the Hanoi Open Art Photography Contest was organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists to search for valuable photographic works about Hanoi.
Through that, we will propagate to the people of the capital and the whole country about the position, especially important role, and responsibility for developing the capital Hanoi.
Awakening the revolutionary tradition, a thousand years of culture, heroism, peace, friendship, proactive and creative spirit, self-reliance and aspiration of the capital Hanoi. Through the award-winning works, it will contribute to honoring and promoting the cultural, scientific, historical and aesthetic values of Hanoi culture to Vietnamese and international tourists.
With the theme “ Hanoi Capital - New Position - New Stature”, the entries have a new perspective, clear and unique message about Hanoi Capital - the city of “Cultured - Civilized - Modern”, expressing the love of Vietnamese people and international friends for Hanoi.
Mr. Do Dinh Hong - Member of the City Party Committee, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports assessed that after nearly 4 months of launching, the contest received more than 1,000 works from 208 authors. Of which, there were 122 photo series works and 979 single photos.
“The works are highly appreciated for their artistic quality, richness in themes, exploration, innovation in composition and color, as well as reflecting the unique beauty of the landscape, culture and people of the capital, typical architectural works of art, and outstanding events.
The contest also contributes to promoting and introducing culture, tourism, and socio-economics through the diverse perspectives of photography artists," Mr. Do Dinh Hong emphasized.
Accordingly, the jury selected and awarded 85 best prizes to 56 authors and groups, including: 5 A Prizes (First Prize), 10 B Prizes (Second Prize), 20 C Prizes (Third Prize), 30 Consolation Prizes, 15 Specialized Consolation Prizes and 5 Grassroots Movement Consolation Prizes for groups and individuals.
The winning works will be exhibited at the City Cultural Center (Hanoi) from September 24 to October 30, 2024.
