Dien Bien - The working delegation of the People's Committee has just promoted the sending of workers to work seasonally in a series of localities of Korea.

Great opportunities for young workers

From December 29, the working delegation of Dien Bien province led by Mr. Lo Van Cuong - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had working sessions with leaders of Yeongwol district and Pyeongchang district (Gangwon province, Korea) to exchange and survey labor and employment needs in localities.

According to Mr. Lo Van Cuong, Dien Bien currently has abundant human resources with nearly 300,000 people of working age (from 20 years old and above).

This force is mainly working in agriculture and commerce, capable of meeting the recruitment needs of the Korean labor market.

Chairman of the Yeongwol District Council also confirmed that the district has a very large demand for foreign workers, especially in the fields of agriculture and forestry.

Accordingly, the recruitment demand at Yeongwol focuses on seasonal labor from April to October every year. Recruitment age is from 25-35 years old.

In Pyeongchang district, the two sides also agreed on human resource needs and agreed to implement legal procedures to move towards cooperation in providing seasonal labor sources in accordance with the laws of the two countries.

Leaders of Dien Bien province also committed to promoting propaganda and mobilizing workers to strictly comply with the laws of the host country, and at the same time closely coordinate in labor management throughout their working time in Korea.

Expanding provincial-level cooperation

Also on the morning of December 30, the working delegation of Dien Bien province worked with the Chairman of the Gangwon Provincial Council.

Mr. Lo Van Cuong also requested the Chairman of the Gangwon Provincial Council to give directions to the cities, districts, and towns directly under it to pay attention to and coordinate with Dien Bien in signing cooperation agreements to send workers to work temporarily.

At the same time, it is proposed to consider signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two provinces in the fields of agricultural investment, services and tours with Dien Bien province.

Regarding the labor shortage situation in Korea in general and Gangwon in particular, the Chairman of the Gangwon Provincial Council emphasized the urgent need to recruit foreign workers to work seasonally in agriculture.

Gangwon provincial leaders committed to directing affiliated units to expand relations with Dien Bien, towards signing minutes of cooperation agreements on labor recruitment and investment promotion as soon as possible.

In the afternoon of December 30, the delegation of Dien Bien province worked with Wonju city, Gangwon province to discuss cooperation terms. It is expected that in the first quarter of 2026, a legal corridor will be created to effectively implement coordination programs in the coming time.
