Latvia - a country in Northern Europe (B Baltic region) is accelerating the modernization of its navy through the development of the two-hull tactical ship LNT-27, which is a multi-purpose offshore platform designed to meet increasingly complex maritime security requirements.
According to published information, LNT-27 is oriented as a high-speed ship, capable of operating stably in rough seas conditions, while flexibly undertaking many different roles, from coastal patrols to specialized defense missions.
The highlight of the LNT-27 lies in its two-hull design (catamaran), which significantly improves movement speed and stability compared to traditional single-hull ships.
This architecture is especially useful in unpredictable marine environments, where rapid response and maintained high operating performance are required.
In addition, the ship is also being developed with a focus on rapid deployment capability, serving maritime security missions, offshore patrols and supporting defense activities.
Technically, the LNT-27 combines design elements from Europe and the US, and uses light composite materials to optimize operating performance.
Manufacturing technology has also been upgraded with the application of large-scale composite production and precision processing by robots.
These improvements not only help reduce ship weight but also increase durability and long-term operation in harsh environments.
The LNT-27 project is operated by Latitude Naval Technologies (a newly established defense unit in Latvia). This company is a subsidiary of Latitude Construction, headquartered in Riga Port.
Currently, the project is taking advantage of production infrastructure with a total area of up to 10,000 m2, including a shipyard and technical support areas.
Latvian officials expect the project not only to strengthen defense capabilities but also to promote the economy, create more high-tech jobs and improve domestic technology levels.
