According to Interesting Engineering, the upgrade aims to increase production capacity to meet increasing defense needs. The project adds about 2,400 square meters of area to the missile integration facility at Redstone military base (USA). Thanks to improved space and infrastructure, this facility can process and supply missiles 50% faster than before.
The Redstone facility is a place to assemble and integrate many missile systems, including versions of the Standard series, which are often used in air defense and missile defense.
Raytheon said the expansion area helps engineers and technicians assemble complex missile systems more efficiently, while still ensuring quality and safety standards.
This facility has been operating since 2012 and is currently an important part of Raytheon's production network. The group currently has more than 2,200 employees working in Alabama (USA).
According to local leaders, the project continues to strengthen the role of the city of Huntsville as an advanced US defense and manufacturing technology center. The expansion is also expected to benefit local suppliers, contractors and the regional economy.
Raytheon said that in the context of increasing demand for modern defense systems globally, upgrading production facilities is necessary to ensure stable supply for partners and allies.
