On the morning of January 6, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thanh Commune, Tuy Phong District, Binh Thuan Province confirmed that a case of poisoning from eating puffer fish had just occurred in the area, causing 5 people to be taken to the emergency room, and 1 person later died.
According to local reports, at noon on January 5, at Mr. D.G's house (in Binh Thanh commune, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province), Mr. D.G (born in 1967), Mr. D.V.L (born in 1994), Mr. N.V.B (born in 1970, all residing in village 3, Binh Thanh commune) and Mr. H.A.T (born in 1974, residing in Lien Huong town), Mr. L.V.X (born in 1966, residing in Thuan Nam district, Ninh Thuan province) ate puffer fish (a type of puffer fish) that Mr. D.V.L caught at sea and processed it into a dish with Mr. G.
After finishing eating, at 3:00 p.m. the same day, all 5 people had symptoms of numbness in the tip of their tongue and purple faces, so they were taken to the emergency room at Tuy Phong District Medical Center.
Tuy Phong District Medical Center determined that the above patients were severely poisoned by eating puffer fish and were transferred to a higher level.
By the evening of January 5, Mr. T had died. Currently, the remaining four people, Mr. G, Mr. L, Mr. B, and Mr. X, are conscious and are being monitored at the hospital.
