85 houses in Nghe An damaged after heavy rain

Nghe An – Prolonged heavy rain has damaged 85 houses and caused much property damage in the mountainous district of Tuong Duong.

On the morning of October 3, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuong Duong District (Nghe An) said that the heavy rain on the night of September 30 had caused serious consequences for the locality.

Accordingly, the above rain caused damage in the communes of Luong Minh, Luu Kien, Xa Luong, and Nhon Mai.

A total of 85 houses were affected and damaged by flash floods, inundation, and landslides; of which 14 houses were completely damaged, and households are having to stay temporarily.

7 houses were flooded, had landslides and were severely damaged, 55 houses had mud and rocks flowing into them, 9 houses were flooded, had mud and rocks flowing into them.

In addition, in Luu Kien commune, 4 semi-permanent houses had landslides of soil and rocks behind the houses (with the risk of affecting the houses), and in Nhon Mai commune, 13 households had landslides of the negative slope near the house foundation and water flooded the houses.

In addition, nearly 9 hectares of rice in the harvest stage were damaged, broken and flooded. Some areas were completely lost due to floods or prolonged flooding.

Hundreds of livestock and poultry died and were swept away by floods.

In Luu Kien commune, many roads were affected by landslides, large amounts of landslides caused traffic jams, vehicles could not pass. Especially the road from Pung village to Luu Thong, about 2 km long. The landslide in the streambed in Pung village, the landslide length was about 2 km.

Authorities and local people cleaned up the environment, cleared landslide-affected roads, and ensured smooth traffic; helped people move their belongings and livestock to safety; temporarily repaired houses and public works so that people could soon stabilize their lives. At the same time, emergency support was provided to affected households.
