On January 25, news from Hong Loc Commune People's Committee said that Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee has just issued a document assigning the Hong Loc Commune government to stop receiving waste at the landfill in the area.
Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee also assigned Hong Loc commune to implement remedial and renovation measures such as: spraying biological products to limit odors, kill flies and mosquitoes; leveling and compacting at landfills; operating a wastewater treatment system, ensuring the treatment of wastewater residue at biological lakes; protecting environmental sanitation in the landfill area and surrounding areas, not affecting the surrounding environment.
Request the People's Committees of Hong Loc, Mai Phu, Loc Ha, and Dong Kinh communes to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to carry out waste sorting and treatment at source and in households to reduce the amount of domestic waste to be collected, transported, and treated.
Contact units with waste treatment functions in neighboring areas such as Co Dam commune, Thach Lac commune and other suitable areas to organize the transportation, transfer, and treatment of waste, ensuring environmental sanitation, especially in the preparation period for the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo 2026.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Finance and relevant departments and agencies to monitor and guide localities in implementing the management of collection, transportation, and treatment of domestic waste in the area in accordance with regulations.
Previously, on January 6, Lao Dong Newspaper had an article "High waste despite the expired treatment area" reflecting that the domestic solid waste treatment area in Hong Loc commune had expired in June 2025 but still received waste every day, causing overload, and waste piled up high, causing environmental pollution.

This is a waste treatment area in Loc Ha district (old) with a total investment of 53 billion VND, invested by Loc Ha district (old), implementing waste treatment by landfilling.
The project was started in 2014, completed and put into operation from 2015 on an area of 5ha.
Regarding waste treatment activities, Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee has approved the waste power plant project with a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND in Hong Loc commune (near the current Hong Loc landfill), but it is being protested by many people because they believe that the plant is located near Cu Lay dam and Dong Ho dam, causing environmental concerns.
