Reporting to Lao Dong Newspaper, people in Thai Binh Commune (Yen Son) said that for many months now, a wood storage area has appeared near the corridor of National Highway 37, which passes through the commune, posing a potential traffic safety risk for people and vehicles.
According to the reporter's records on November 14, the above wood gathering point of Sao Viet Company Limited is located near Rap bridge area at Km 201+680 QL37, passing through Binh Ca village, Thai Binh commune, Yen Son district.
Over an area of over 2,000 square meters, many logs were piled up and lying haphazardly along the safety corridor of National Highway 37. Many logs protruded from the pile, sticking out onto the roadside, posing a high risk of causing accidents for people and vehicles.
Regularly traveling through this road, Mr. Ha Trong Dong (Tuyen Quang City) said that the situation of gathering wood close to the roadside and sidewalk has been going on for a long time, posing many potential risks, threatening the lives of people and vehicles participating in traffic.
"Every time I ride my motorbike here, I have to slow down and observe carefully. This road is often used by many heavy trucks. If I am not careful and collide with a protruding log and fall onto the road, it is very dangerous," said Dong.
According to local people, the wood storage area of Sao Viet Tuyen Quang Company Limited is piled up and spilled onto the road like a trap for passing vehicles, especially at dusk or on rainy days.
In addition to the widespread accumulation of wood, close to the road corridor, smoke, dust, and noise from the operation of the wood workshop here also have a significant impact on people's lives and the environment.
"The wood yards are not covered, when it rains or is sunny, there is a musty smell and the loud noise of the wood chipper. In the wood workshop, there is a furnace that operates all day, black smoke and acrid smell wafts into the residential area, making the air stuffy.
We hope that the local government will soon have a plan to handle and relocate the wood gathering area so as not to affect people's lives," a local resident suggested.
On November 14, speaking with reporters, Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung - Chairman of Thai Binh Commune People's Committee confirmed that Sao Viet Company's wood workshop had gathered wood close to the traffic corridor, causing traffic insecurity in the area.
"The locality has recorded the gathering of wood near the corridor of National Highway 37, some trees protruding onto the road, this has many potential risks, we will inspect, remind the unit and if the wood factory does not comply, we will handle it according to regulations", the leader added.
