On August 18, functional agencies of Dak O commune (Dong Nai city) completed procedures to hand over a crocodile weighing about 10kg to Bu Gia Map National Park for rescue and management in accordance with legal regulations.
Previously, on the afternoon of July 25, when people went to work in the fields in the Cau Cay Xanh stream area, Bu Xia village, Dak O commune, they were startled to discover a strange animal suspected to be a crocodile floating on the water surface. People took pictures and immediately reported to the authorities.
Upon receiving the news, functional forces of Dak O commune and the Management Board of Bu Xia village urgently mobilized manpower and deployed a plan to encircle and arrest. However, the first searches did not bring results because the animal moved flexibly and hid.
According to records, the area where the incident occurred is where rubber, coffee and durian are grown. Every day, hundreds of workers enter and leave this area to collect latex, weed and water. The appearance of a wild carnivorous animal right next to the living and working place has raised great concern for the community.
Local authorities quickly notified people to be vigilant and not approach the stream bank area to ensure safety. At the same time, they continued to deploy searches and raids.
By the afternoon of August 17, people and functional forces had discovered the crocodile and immediately deployed a successful siege. The capture of this crocodile has helped relieve the concerns of Dak O people for more than half a month.
