Ministry of Transport informs voters about high-speed railway

On October 10, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) responded to voters about the North-South high-speed railway project.

Previously, voters in Ho Chi Minh City proposed to soon implement the North-South high-speed railway project and the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho route, creating favorable conditions for trade and economic development.

Responding to this issue, the Ministry of Transport said that the high-speed railway route on the North-South axis is according to the Railway Network Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

The high-speed railway line will be from Ngoc Hoi station (Hanoi) to Thu Thiem station (Ho Chi Minh City), with a double-track scale, 1,435mm gauge and a length of about 1,545km; investment roadmap before 2030.

The 10th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee agreed on the investment policy for the entire high-speed railway project (350km/h) on the North-South axis.

Currently, the Ministry of Transport has completed the project's Pre-Feasibility Study Report and sent it to the State Appraisal Council for appraisal according to regulations as a basis for submitting to the National Assembly for consideration and approval of the investment policy at the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly.

For the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho railway line: According to the Railway Network Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho railway line, about 174km long, passes through 6 provinces/cities, double track, 1435mm gauge; research and investment roadmap before 2030.

Currently, the Ministry of Transport is preparing a Pre-Feasibility Study Report to submit to competent authorities for consideration and decision as a basis for mobilizing resources to implement investment in accordance with the set planning roadmap.

The Ministry of Transport agrees with the voters' recommendations that it is necessary to soon invest in the high-speed railway on the North-South axis and the Ho Chi Minh City-Can Tho railway to facilitate the socio-economic development of the region and will continue to focus resources to accelerate investment preparation and implementation of investment in the above railway routes.
