HCMC - Part of Binh Hung Hoa cemetery, the largest cemetery in HCMC, is under construction as a school, expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Binh Hung Hoa cemetery, located in the old Binh Tan district, was formed in the 1970s, with an area of up to 44.5 hectares and nearly 54,000 graves. Since 2010, Ho Chi Minh City has had a policy of relocating this cemetery to beautify the urban area and ensure environmental sanitation.

The relocation project was approved in principle by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in 2010 and divided into three phases. The first two phases have completed the relocation of about 32,000 graves and incinerators on an area of nearly 30 hectares. Tombs without relatives were cremated, and ashes were concentrated. Phase three is currently underway and is expected to complete all excavation work by 2026.

After completing the relocation, the Binh Hung Hoa cemetery land is planned to increase public land funds, especially educational land and green land, to serve the needs of the people.

Currently, on a part of the land in phase one of the relocation project, Tran Dai Nghia Primary School is under urgent construction. This school has a facade on Binh Long Street, adjacent to Celadon City Urban Area of Tan Son Nhi Ward.

The project investor is the Binh Tan District Investment and Construction Project Management Board (old). The project will be implemented in the period of 2023 - 2026.
