Prolonged heavy rain caused flash floods and landslides in Khong Lao commune, sweeping away a house worth more than 1 billion VND and many people's properties. Fortunately, the incident did not cause any casualties.
In the afternoon of July 8, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Economic Department of Khong Lao commune (Lai Chau province) said that a flood had just occurred in the area, completely sweeping away a 2-story house of a resident.
Accordingly, on the morning of the same day, the house of Mr. Ly Van Quang (born 1985, residing in Giao Chan village) was swept away by the flood after many hours of heavy rain.

Before the house was collapsed by floodwaters, the family and people in the village promptly moved part of the property out, contributing to minimizing damage.
It is known that the house has an area of about 80m2 per floor, a total usable area of about 160m2, with a construction value of more than 1 billion VND.
Not only the house was swept away, the yard and barn system of the family were also damaged, floodwaters swept away 8 pigs.
However, because most of the property in the house was moved in time, the damage was significantly reduced. The incident did not cause any casualties.

According to a representative of the Economic Department of Khong Lao commune, the house was built quite far from the stream, surrounded by rice fields.
However, prolonged heavy rain caused floodwaters to rise, causing stream bank erosion at a very fast rate, collapsing and sweeping away the entire project.
Currently, Mr. Ly Van Quang's family is temporarily living at a relative's house in the village, waiting for stable weather conditions to overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives.
According to initial statistics, from the night of July 7 to the morning of July 8, prolonged heavy rain in Khong Lao commune caused water levels in streams to rise, causing flooding, flash floods and riverbank erosion.
Natural disasters have affected many houses, agricultural production areas, aquaculture and people's property. Total estimated damage is about 1.346 billion VND.
