In 2025, Da Nang International Airport will implement three key projects: building a cargo terminal, building infrastructure in the north of the airport, and expanding terminal T1.
In particular, the cargo terminal project was approved by the People's Committee of Da Nang City to be built in 2022 on an area of over 28,745.9m2, with a capacity of 100,000 tons of cargo/year.
The project has a total investment of 350 billion VND with development investment capital from Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV). Currently, the total investment adjustment (600 billion VND) is being proposed. It is expected that in the third quarter of 2026, the cargo terminal will be completed and put into use.
Mr. Phan Kieu Hung - Director of Da Nang International Airport said: "During the design implementation process, there were some reserve land areas that were not included in the investment decision. To ensure the capacity of 100,000 tons/year, after consulting, researching, surveying and evaluating, the local planning must be adjusted by increasing the reserve land areas during the construction of this project".
Da Nang International Airport has also coordinated with the Department of Transport and related units to propose the Ministry of Transport to adjust the local planning 1/500 of the Cargo Terminal Project... In December, the Ministry of Transport will review and adjust the local planning of the land for the construction of the cargo terminal - Da Nang International Airport.
In particular, from 2026 to 2028, Da Nang International Airport will expand Terminal T1 according to the approved plan to 10 million passengers/year. ACV has recorded the development investment capital (VND 5,000 billion, which can be adjusted to increase the total investment) in parallel with the implementation of the construction of the cargo terminal project, and the implementation of the FS dossier for the T1 passenger terminal expansion project.
According to Mr. Phan Kieu Hung, the Ministry of Transport is currently considering completing the appraisal procedures to submit to the Prime Minister for approval of the adjustment of the planning of Da Nang International Airport in the coming time. Therefore, Da Nang International Airport recommends that competent authorities soon approve the planning adjustment so that ACV has a basis to implement it in accordance with regulations.
In 2025, Da Nang International Airport will also implement the Infrastructure Construction Project for the remaining land area north of the airport, which will build traffic routes, rainwater drainage systems, water supply, and lighting, expected to be completed in April 2025.
