The drill was led by Mr. Phan Kieu Hung - Director of Da Nang International Airport, with the participation of nearly 300 individuals and dozens of vehicles mobilized from units under Da Nang International Airport. Coordinating and cooperating units in the port area, including: Phu Bai International Airport, Chu Lai Airport, Air Division 372, Regiment 930, Da Nang International Airport Border Police Station, Representatives of domestic and international airlines, Medical units - Hospital 199 of the Ministry of Public Security, Emergency Center 115.
Hypothetical situation: At 9:00 a.m. on November 8, 2024, flight XYZ789, Airbus 321-NEO of ABC Airlines from Noi Bai to Da Nang, during landing, the brakes locked and the left tire number 1 exploded, causing the aircraft to fly off runway 17R/35L between taxiway W2 and dive runway W4. After leaving the runway, the aircraft hit ditch M9 and broke the left landing gear. The left wing hit the ditch wall and smoke appeared from the aircraft's left engine. The airport control tower notified the emergency situation via Hotline to the Emergency Command Center and the Emergency Fire Fighting Team. The airport emergency deployment was activated.
The plan to handle the situation was directed: Da Nang International Airport organized initial fire fighting and rescue, however the situation of the plane fire developed rapidly, the number of victims exceeded the rescue capacity of the Airport. At 9:05 am, outside forces arrived at the scene to support the fire fighting, rescue and search and rescue forces of the Airport. The units closely coordinated to extinguish the fire, rescue and rescue successfully at 9:14 am.
The exercise has many purposes: Building an operational mechanism according to the situation and the level of organization, command and coordination, the order of work of the leaders as well as the actions of the staff participating in the airport emergency work; Improving the level of organization, command, coordination and operation of agencies and units in the emergency and rescue work at the airport. Improving the ability to practice using specialized equipment for emergency and rescue work for related forces.
Establish and improve the effectiveness of coordination between the airport's on-site forces and the joint forces in handling situations where aircraft have technical problems and incidents in the flight operations area; Through drills, agencies and units gain experience to update and supplement the Airport Emergency Plan to suit actual situations that may occur.
Mr. Hoang Huu Cuong - Deputy Head of the Drill Committee, Deputy Director of Da Nang International Airport highly appreciated the drill, from the preparation stage in terms of human resources, materials, equipment... to the actual combat process and the results of the drill. According to him, the drill contributed to enhancing the command and control capacity of leaders at all levels and effective coordination between forces inside and outside the Port to be ready with response plans when similar situations may occur at Da Nang International Airport.
The training and drill process ensures safety of people, support tools, vehicles, assets and does not affect the Port's operations.
