On October 6, the working delegation of the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 led by Colonel Tran Nguyen Lai - Deputy Commander - Chief Adviser went to An Son island commune, Kien Hai district, Kien Giang province to organize the program "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen" in the area.
In An Son island commune, the Working Group of the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 coordinated with local Party committees, authorities, departments, organizations, and armed forces to organize propaganda activities and disseminate laws on seas and islands; on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing; and on preventing and combating the harmful effects of drugs for fishermen.
The Coast Guard Region 4 Command presented 15 gifts to support and help families with meritorious services and fishermen in difficult circumstances; and presented 10 gifts to poor but excellent students.
The delegation also sponsored 3 poor students who overcame difficulties and excelled in their studies with a total amount of 9 million VND/student. They presented more than 200 national flags, first aid kits, pictures of Uncle Ho and distributed propaganda leaflets to fishing boats and fishermen in the area; coordinated with local authorities to organize activities to clean up and protect the environment in coastal areas.
Through the program, we will continue to raise awareness and responsibility of the islanders in complying with the provisions of the law, as well as support and help them and students to cover and overcome some of the difficulties to improve their lives.
Further enhance the effectiveness of coordination and participation of local Party committees, authorities and people in the area with the Vietnam Coast Guard in performing the tasks of managing, protecting sovereignty and enforcing laws at sea. Strengthen the solidarity between the army and the people, contributing to building an increasingly solid national defense posture and people's security posture, protecting sovereignty, security, order and safety in the southwestern sea and islands of the Fatherland.
