Decision No. 3316/QD-UBND of the Hanoi People's Committee issued a multi-modal inter-modal ticket plan for the public passenger transport system in the area. The goal is to build a basis for implementing a common ticket card system, diversifying ticket products and issuance forms, and at the same time offering a preferential exemption/discount mechanism suitable for different travel needs of passengers. Thereby, the city hopes to encourage people to use public transport, contributing to reducing traffic congestion and environmental pollution.
According to the plan, passengers in the priority group will have to spend more than VND 2.8 million/year, while the non-priority group will have to spend more than VND 5.6 million/year.
In the first phase, connecting tickets will be applied to subsidized types of transport such as buses and urban railways (metro). After that, the city will study and expand to other types such as public bicycles, taxis, etc. and deploy them to organizations and individuals participating in public passenger transport activities.
For buses, the departure fee is 3,000 VND plus 450 VND/km (calculated by distance) when paying electronically. Monthly tickets for a route cost 790,000 VND for the priority group, nearly 1.6 million VND for the non-priority group. 12-month inter-route tickets cost nearly 1.6 million VND for priority groups and more than 3.1 million VND for non-priority groups.
For metro trains, the opening price for single-trip tickets is 8,000 VND plus 850 VND/km, when paying electronically.
The price of multi-modal inter-modal tickets (bus and metro) is more than 2.8 million VND/12 months (equivalent to 235,000 VND/month) for customers in the priority group according to the Resolution of the Hanoi People's Council. Customers not in the priority group will have to spend more than 5.6 million VND/year (ie about 470,000 VND/month).
According to the decision, the Hanoi People's Committee requires the development of ticket prices according to time (day, week, month). However, the specific prices for daily and weekly tickets have not been announced.
A representative of the Hanoi Department of Construction said that the interconnecting ticket system is expected to officially open on September 2. Currently, Hanoi is commercially exploiting two metro lines, Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station and Cat Linh - Ha Dong. However, the ticket cards of these two routes are not yet connected; passengers traveling on each route still have to buy separate tickets for that route.
