HCMC - Rach Dia Bridge on Le Van Luong Street, connecting Nha Be District with District 7, has completed the connection and is expected to open to traffic in December this year.

According to records at the construction site on October 12, workers and machines are urgently completing the remaining items of Rach Dia bridge.

Currently, 9 bridge spans have been installed, connecting the two river banks, with the main bridge under construction of the deck, railings and preparing to pour asphalt concrete.

The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the Rach Dia Bridge project has reached more than 85% of its volume. According to the plan, the entire project will be completed and open to traffic in December this year.

Before the new bridge was built, this area only had a small, 3m wide iron bridge, built before 1975. After 50 years of use, the bridge has seriously degraded and will be dismantled at the end of 2023, making it difficult for people to travel.

"Since the old bridge was demolished, it has taken me an extra 30 minutes to travel around the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho underpass. I just hope the project will be completed soon so that people can travel more conveniently," said Nguyen Van Binh (45 years old).

The new Rach Dia Bridge started construction in July 2023, with a length of 317.8m with 9 spans, the widest part of the bridge crossing the river is about 10.5m.

The approach road to the bridge is 233m long, 14m to 27m wide, with drainage, lighting and tree systems. The project has an investment of 512 billion VND, funded by the city budget.

Once completed, Rach Dia Bridge will play an important role in connecting Le Van Luong Street with Nguyen Van Linh Avenue, enhancing traffic capacity between District 7 and Nha Be.

The new bridge will help reduce traffic pressure on Rach Dia 2 Bridge on Nguyen Huu Tho Street, which has been overloaded for many years, especially during rush hour.

According to the Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects, this project not only improves the traffic situation in the Southern region but also contributes to the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City.

Rach Dia Bridge will strengthen the connection between Ho Chi Minh City and Long An province, creating favorable conditions for the synchronous exploitation of traffic infrastructure in the Southern region, contributing to promoting the development of the entire region.
