In early August, reporters' records at the Border Bridge Project across the Red River showed that the construction atmosphere was extremely urgent.
Construction teams were deployed simultaneously, dozens of engineers and workers worked continuously in 3 shifts, 4 teams to take advantage of favorable weather and accelerate the progress of key projects.
The border bridge project across the Red River was started on March 31, 2025, is one of the important transportation projects connecting the Ban Vuoc border gate area (Vietnam) with Ba Sai (China), contributing to strengthening customs clearance capacity, promoting trade and economic development in the border area.

Information from the Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the construction of the border bridge has a budget of 288 billion VND from the central budget and the provincial budget.
According to the design, the main bridge over the Red River is built with a low-tower cable structure (Extradosed). Vietnam invests half of the main bridge, 115 m long, along with a system of access roads and connecting infrastructure.
The bridge has a cross-section width of 35.3 m, using prestressed reinforced concrete girder structures constructed according to the cantilever casting method combined with cables, tower pillars 20 m high from the bridge deck.
To date, the contractor has completed the entire lower structure including abutment M2 and piers T8, T9.
The top structure has completed the K0 to K4 segments of the main span and the girder cast on a 40m long scaffolding, and is currently continuing to construct the next girder segments.

The realized value reaches about 60% of the project volume. The remaining volume is mainly the construction of beam segments by mobile cast cars, tower pillars, bridge deck, railings, sidewalks and approach roads at both ends of the bridge.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese side will complete the items within the scope of investment, hand over the site and ensure technical conditions by the end of November 2026 for the Chinese side to organize the main span joining.
According to the investor, the project implementation process faced many difficulties due to complex geological conditions. In addition, many items located under the riverbed are frequently affected by floods.

In the remaining phase, most items are carried out on high, requiring strict technical and occupational safety requirements.
The investor and contractors are continuing to mobilize manpower and equipment, taking advantage of favorable weather to accelerate progress and ensure project quality.
When completed, the border bridge across the Red River will create an additional direct connection route between Lao Cai and Yunnan province (China), contributing to completing the infrastructure of the Ban Vuoc border gate area.
From there, improve transportation capacity, import and export and expand the space for economic and trade development between the two localities.
