On October 8, the Lao Cai Department of Transport informed that the unit is coordinating with the Traffic Police, Provincial Police and Sa Pa town authorities to urgently overcome the landslide situation on Provincial Road 155, the section near the Mong Sen bridge toll station to quickly clear the route as soon as possible.
Lao Cai Sa Pa BOT Joint Stock Company has closed the toll station to prevent vehicles from traveling on the bridge.
It is expected that on October 11, the authorities will complete the opening of Provincial Road 155, the section leading to Mong Sen Bridge.
During this time, vehicles from Lao Cai city, Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway to Sa Pa, to Lai Chau province (and vice versa) still circulate normally on National Highway 4D.
Previously, on the morning of October 7, at Km12+600 Provincial Road 155, the section passing through Trung Chai commune, a large landslide occurred on the positive slope, causing traffic congestion.
Initial estimates show that the landslide area is about 60m long with a volume of about 20,000m3 of rock and soil spilling onto Provincial Road 155.
According to the leader of Lao Cai Department of Transport, immediately after the landslide occurred, the Department directed the maintenance contractor to coordinate with Lao Cai - Sa Pa BOT Joint Stock Company to mobilize machinery and focus on cleaning to ensure traffic.
Inaugurated on September 29, 2021, Mong Sen Bridge is a key project in the project to build a new route connecting to Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway, replacing National Highway 4D. With a total investment of 450 billion VND, the bridge spans two hills, the bridge head is 83m high - the tallest overpass pier in Vietnam.
The bridge is 14m wide with 4 lanes, 612m long, including 5 continuous spans, of which the longest span is 132m.
