In recent days, the Women's Union of Bao Loc City (Lam Dong) has mobilized its staff and members to repaint the entire Dai Lao Bridge (old); at the same time, invested in planting fresh flower beds and installing a new LED lighting system for the bridge.
Thanks to that, the old Dai Lao bridge has been given a new, beautiful, sparkling, and vibrant coat.
This is a project assigned by the People's Committee of Bao Loc city to the City Women's Union to implement, aiming to welcome the 10th Da Lat Flower Festival in 2024 and celebrate the 30th anniversary of building and developing Bao Loc urban area (1994 - 2024).
Dai Lao Bridge (old) across Dai Lao stream connecting Dai Lao and Loc Chau communes (Bao Loc city) on National Highway 20 is a semi-suspension bridge with a single span in the shape of an arc. The bridge is cast from reinforced concrete. The bridge is more than 30 meters long and 5 meters wide.
The bridge was designed by a Vietnamese architect and was completed and put into use in August 1935. Previously, the bridge was painted white so it was often called the White Bridge. After 1975, this bridge was renamed the Dai Lao Bridge.
In 2010, the State invested in building the new Dai Lao Bridge, right next to the old bridge. Since then, vehicles no longer travel on the old Dai Lao Bridge. The abandoned bridge has not been repaired or maintained, so it has become increasingly degraded.
The painting, decoration and restoration of the old Dai Lao bridge has contributed to preserving the valuable historical work of the land opening period of the ancient B'Lao land and today's Bao Loc city.
