6 hundred billion bridges across the Red River in Lao Cai City

To enhance trade connectivity, Lao Cai City is investing in building more bridges across the Red River.
In Lao Cai City (Lao Cai Province), up to now, there have been 5 bridges built across the Red River and 1 bridge is in the process of completion.
These bridges play an important role in connecting traffic, economic development, and are even symbols in the hearts of Lao Cai people.
Mr. Hoang Van Tuan (Coc Leu ward) shared: "I have witnessed and also heard from previous generations that Coc Leu bridge has been rebuilt many times on the old location. Through many ups and downs, historical events, this bridge has gradually been imprinted in the memories of every citizen of Lao Cai city".
Having to regularly cross Pho Moi or Coc Leu bridges to get to work near the Lao Cai border economic zone, Ms. Duong Thi Ngoc (Kim Tan ward) shared: "These bridges make people's travel much more convenient and faster. We are also looking forward to trying out the Phu Thinh bridge under construction."
Regarding Phu Thinh Bridge - the 6th bridge across the Red River, the Lao Cai Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the bridge was built to connect Bac Cuong ward with Van Hoa commune in Lao Cai city, Lao Cai province.
The joint venture of Thang Long Construction Mechanical Corporation and Inland Waterway Management and Maintenance Joint Stock Company No. 1 is in charge of the construction. Up to now, the project has achieved about 90% of the work volume.

Coc Leu Bridge was built in its current location in 1907, 1959 and 1992. In 2009, the bridge was rebuilt for the fourth time with a permanent design using prestressed reinforced concrete, including 2 abutments, 4 pillars, 250 m long, 16 m wide, meeting four traffic lanes. The project has a total investment of over 110 billion VND.In 2002, Pho Moi Bridge was inaugurated and put into use, about 2.5 km downstream from Coc Leu Bridge. The bridge is 276 m long, with a total construction investment value of nearly 59 billion VND.
Playing an important role in connecting trade with China, in 2009, the 280-meter Kim Thanh Bridge (Lao Cai City, Vietnam) connecting Bac Son Development Zone (Ha Khau Town, Yunnan Province, China) with an investment capital of more than 200 billion was officially opened to traffic.In 2015, Giang Dong Bridge with an investment capital of 360 billion VND was inaugurated after nearly 21 months of continuous construction. The completion of Giang Dong Bridge will significantly shorten the travel time of people in Van Hoa, Giang Dong, Lang Giang areas... with Lao Cai city.In 2020, Lang Giang bridge connecting Xuan Tang ward, Lao Cai city to Thai Nien commune, Bao Thang district with a total investment of more than 258 billion VND was built, closed in 2022 and is now put into use.Phu Thinh Bridge has a total length of 250.2 m, started construction in 2022, on December 28, 2023, Phu Thinh Bridge was officially closed.
