On the evening of July 9, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, leaders of Hoai Nhon Bac Ward People's Committee (Gia Lai) confirmed that a fishing boat fire had just occurred at Tam Quan Fishing Port.
Immediately after receiving the news, the Fire and Rescue Police force mobilized officers, soldiers and many specialized vehicles to the scene, urgently deploying firefighting and preventing the fire from spreading.
According to the leader of Hoai Nhon Bac Ward People's Committee, at the time of the fire, there was strong wind, causing the fire to break out fiercely, causing many difficulties for firefighting work.
Currently, functional forces are focusing on firefighting, so it is not possible to specifically determine the number of ships affected and damaged," said the leader of Hoai Nhon Bac Ward People's Committee.
According to initial information, at about 7 pm on the same day, people discovered a fishing boat catching fire in the port area. In just a short time, the fire spread to the boats anchored next to it.
Mr. Dao Duy Tin (born 1989, residing in Hoai Nhon Bac ward) said that at about 7 pm, his wife, who was selling food near the fishing port, discovered a boat fire and shouted for people to come and put out the fire.
When I ran out, the fire had already engulfed the entire hull of a ship. In just a moment, the fire spread to many ships next door. According to my observation, there are about 9 ships on fire. Functional forces are pulling the burning ships to cut off the fire, preventing the fire from continuing to spread," Mr. Tin said.
By the evening of the same day, functional forces were still urgently deploying firefighting work. The cause of the fire and damage are being clarified.
