On July 7, a cargo plane went missing after losing contact with air traffic control while flying over the Arabian Sea near Ormara in Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan, Xinhua reported.
Five crew members were on board at the time of the disappearance, sources said, and also said that authorities had launched a large-scale search and rescue operation.
Pakistani authorities have launched a search and rescue operation after the plane went missing in the Arabian Sea. A Boeing 737 cargo flight of K2 Airways, departing from Sharjah to the port city of Karachi in southern Pakistan, reported a navigation system malfunction at 9:18 pm local time and was immediately instructed by the Karachi Regional Control Center, the Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) said in a statement.
However, a few minutes later, radar observations showed that the aircraft was rapidly descending and changing course suddenly, before both radar signals and radio communication were lost, at a distance of 155 nautical miles west of Karachi, PAA said.
The agency added that the rescue coordination center has been activated and a coordinated search and rescue operation has been launched at sea with the support of many agencies to locate the missing plane.
