According to initial information, at around 11:15 a.m. on February 16, a fire suddenly broke out at the 500 kV Long Thanh Transformer Station (belonging to Power Transmission Company 4, National Power Transmission Corporation) and black smoke dozens of meters high, people could see the smoke column from afar.
The 500 kV Long Thanh transformer station is located right next to the resettlement area of the Long Thanh airport project (Loc An - Binh Son resettlement area).
When the incident occurred, the staff at the transformer station used on-site fire fighting equipment to control the fire.
Upon receiving the fire report, Long Thanh District Police and the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department of Dong Nai Province Police dispatched many fire trucks and more than 20 officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire.
The fire fighting force sprayed water to cool down, using specialized foam to control and extinguish the fire. At around 12 noon the same day, the fire was completely extinguished.
The incident did not cause any human casualties but damaged many electrical equipment at the transformer station.
Currently, Long Thanh District Police are coordinating with relevant units to fix the incident, count the damage and clarify the cause.
