Information from Hanoi City Police said that at about 2:06 am on September 16, the Command Information Center (TTTTCH) - Hanoi City Police received a report of a fire at house number 2B, alley 264/2 Van Cao, Tay Ho ward.
According to people at the scene, previously, at about 1:50 am on the same day, after discovering the fire, people raised the alarm and used on-site vehicles to initially extinguish the fire, but could not control the fire.
Immediately after receiving the news, TTTTCH mobilized forces and vehicles including 1 fire command vehicle, 5 fire trucks and nearly 40 officers and soldiers of the Fire and Rescue Team of Area No. 8, 10 and Area No. 14 - Fire and Rescue Police Department (Hanoi City Police) to quickly arrive at the scene to coordinate with local authorities, Tay Ho Ward Police and people to organize firefighting, rescue, and relief.
At the same time, Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Dai Thang was directly present at the scene with Major General Nguyen Hong Ky - Deputy Director of Hanoi Police Department, Colonel Pham Trung Hieu - Head of Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department - Hanoi Police Department, commanding firefighting, CNCH and overcoming the consequences of the fire.
The area where the fire occurred was identified as a 4-story house, with an area of about 60m2/story. At the time of approaching the scene, functional forces determined that 4 people had escaped and there were still people trapped inside the fire, the fire commander immediately directed the deployment of a reconnaissance team, using specialized breathing tubes to approach the floors of the house for search and rescue, and at the same time organized attacks to control the fire, preventing it from spreading to the upper floors and adjacent houses.
By about 2:30 am on the same day, the fire was basically under control, and functional forces prevented the fire from spreading to the surrounding area.
By 2:45 am, the fire was completely extinguished. In the process of searching, rescuing, and salvaging, the Fire and Rescue Police force discovered 5 victims who had died and handed them over to the medical force.
Currently, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang has directed Hanoi City Police to closely coordinate with City Departments and branches, local authorities to organize visits, encourage families of victims and overcome the consequences of the fire; and at the same time urgently investigate and clarify the cause of the fire to resolve it according to legal regulations.
